Each dish on the menu refers to an important aspect of the pharaoh’s existence: which combination of products were served as an opening to the great royal banquets, which foods were reserved exclusively for these banquets, inaccessible to some, the afterlife, or how the pharaoh was able to ensure justice and balance in his lands with the help of Maat.
